His Book Review: Attack on Titan 15 by Hajime Isayama (2015)

Why he read it: been reading manga after watching the animated series

Would he recommend it: Yes

His review:

Her: “How was your book?”

Him: “Well, it advanced the plot.”

While perhaps a bit obnoxious, my reply wasn’t far of. The hook for me in this series now is wanting answers to the big questions—where did the titans come from? Who used them to build the walls? Where did the youths come from who, like Eren, are able to turn themselves into titans? What happened to Eren’s father?

I certainly appreciate the social critique at play in the story. And this volume definitely fits in that vein, as it is all about the military facing off against the corrupt monarchical government. There are no titans in this volume, and Eren and his friends play minor roles. This volume is all about politics, which is fine, but doesn’t do much to build on the major characters.

So it advances the plot, and ends with intrigue. But I’m ready for answers. And more titans.
